At Roeper, there are no formal tryouts or cuts. Students may participate on any team given desire, commitment and dedication to hard work. This policy allows students the opportunity to fully explore their own potential within the context of learning about responsibility to oneself and to the team.
At the Middle School level, teaching young athletes the proper fundamentals and rules is a major focus, and practice time is devoted to ensure that athletes have the proper building blocks to succeed in increasingly higher levels of play. Guided by a commitment to creating a positive learning environment, coaches engage players in fun and creative practices. This commitment is evident in that over half of the Middle School student body participates in a sport each year.
At the Upper School level, emphasis is placed on refining skills and game strategies while maintaining a team-first attitude. Coaches instill a competitive spirit within the athletes as they compete for conference and MHSAA championships throughout the year.
