Roeper Chess Team - Back In Person

The Roeper Chess Team is open to all students in stage III and IV.  Practices will be Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 p.m. beginning September 29.  Practices will run from 3:30-5:00 p.m.  The coaches are Bryan Wilson and Blake Pynnonen.

 

Goals of the Program 

1. Learn to play chess and improve individual knowledge of tactics and strategy 
2. Display sportsmanship both when winning and losing 
3. Be a part of a team and develop skills that allow you to contribute to your team 
4. Develop leadership skills through mentoring of other chess teammates 
5. Develop relationships with other chess players both on Roeper’s team and other teams 
6. Build cognitive skills that transfer to other educational settings
