Science Camp: VEX IQ Robotics
A week long camp for students currently in 5th through 7th grades, campers explore VEX IQ robotics programming, driving, building, and design to solve a variety of virtual and real challenges. They work collaborativley in small groups to trouble shoot and investigate the limits of the robots using different graphical programming sequences, sensors, building designs and environments.
Campers develop science knowledge and experience using inquiry-based activities that employ the scientific method, data collection and pure discovery. They learn to relate experimentation and science to the real world in these lively classes.
Session 2: July 29 - August 2, 9am-3pm
Daily hot lunch is included in camp tuition. Two entree selections, one of which is vegetarian, are served with beverages, salad bar, sandwiches, fresh fruit and dessert. For the safety of all campers, items that contain nuts, peanuts or peanut oil are not served. Every Friday is Pizza Party lunch.
Cost: $325 per session, includes lunch
A deposit of $150 per session is required within 14 days of registration. Remaining camp fees, after the enrollment deposit has been applied, are due in two equal installments on April 1 and May 1.
The cancellation deadline is March 1, 2019
Science Camps are led by Roeper School science teacher, Wendy Mayer. Wendy holds an Associate degree from Schoolcraft College, a Bachelor Degree (summa cum laude) in Psychology and a Master Degree in Science Education from Wayne State University. She has been teaching for 12 years and currently teaches 8th Grade Science and a variety of middle school science electives.
