Roeper Senior, Tristan Wilson, Performs with MSBOA All-State Orchestra for 6th Straight Year
On Saturday, January 18th, Tristan Wilson played Viola in the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association (MSBOA) All-State Orchestra in Grand Rapids. This ensemble is an audition-based group that is made up of the finest musicians in the entire state. Applicants submit a recording of their audition materials and are selected in a blind audition process by university professors tasked with creating the ensemble. Tristan, now a senior, has been selected for the All-State group for the past 6 years; every year that he was eligible. It is a fantastic achievement and we are very proud of him!!
Roeper Instrumentalists Excel at Solo & Ensemble Festival
This past weekend, on the January 25th, the Michigan School Band & Orchestra Association held their annual District Solo & Ensemble Festival. This is an event where students perform either as a solo with piano accompaniment, or in small ensembles (duets, trios, etc). Their performances are heard by a judge, who then gives the students a short clinic on how they can improve, and a rating from 1st through 5th Division. (1st being the highest rating) Roeper had 7 students perform in 9 events. They were:
Tristan Wilson - Viola Solo
Lilly Richards - Violin Solo
Cameron Schemm - Clarinet Solo
Kayla Park - Flute Solo
Will Mattison - Trumpet Solo
Jonah Mougoue - Piano Solo
Andrew Mojares - Clarinet Solo
Christopher Mojares - Flute Solo
Andrew & Christopher Mojares - Piano Duet
Of the nine participating events, eight received 1st Division ratings, and one received a 2nd Division. Those that received 1st Division now have the option of moving on to the State Festival in March. Congratulations to all!!
