Jess' answers to our questions:
What is your new position at Roeper?
I will be working at Hill House as the Annual Fund Coordinator Manager! As part of the development team, I will be supporting Lara and Shani on all things fundraising. My favorite part of this role? Crafting stories to share.
What were one or two highlights in your life?
A highlight of life is my family’s annual trip to a small Bluegrass music festival in Northern Michigan. We have attended since I was 5 years old and the weekend has become a Webster family holiday I look forward to each summer. It’s always been a highlight, but it gets sweeter every year!
What would you like to share about yourself, your family, and your birthplace?
I grew up in the village of Walloon Lake in Northern Michigan. My parents are both from the Detroit area, and we spent a lot of time visiting family here. In that sense, moving to Southeast Michigan felt like a homecoming of sorts.
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
I love movement! Yoga and running are my strong suits, but you can find me at the ice rink or volleyball court too…weather dependent.
What is a topic or skill that you love to share and why do you like to?
Sharing my sartorial sense is a love language of mine. You can borrow my clothes, ask my opinion – I love talking clothing, fabrics, textiles. If I could dress the world I would. My last name Webster comes from the word “weaver” and I give a little credit to nominative determination for this interest.
What is it that appealed to you about Roeper when you first became acquainted with the school?
The passion. It’s cool to care and stepping onto this campus you get the sense that people care deeply. Students, faculty, and administrators aren’t just showing up to school or work – they are showing up for what they love.
