Roeper Alum in National News!

Carolyn Borman
Roeper alum Ali Rose VanOverBeke '08 came back to Detroit to help with the Flint water crisis and saw the bags and bags of empty plastic water bottles that had to be used when tap water wasn't usable. From that, she got an idea and she ran with it. She and a former classmate at Parsons School of Design came up with a design for eye glasses made from the recycled water bottles, calling their company Genusee (for Genesee County). The glasses are called the Roeper and the factory is in Flint! Through a Kickstarter campaign, they are raising money to add 17 new workers. Here is the ABC coverage with more details.
