Michael Mrsan ‘18 was one of 68 students nationwide to receive the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation award for his research in physics at Miami University, Ohio.

The first presentation was national in Orlando and guests featured several retired astronauts including keynote speaker Dr. Harrison Schmitt and Scott “Scooter” Altman (who was the Top Gun movie lead stunt pilot who gave the famous upside-down “flippin the bird” sequence). Michael was also seated with two other astronauts Doug Hurley and Karen Nyberg who gave him sound academic and career advice.

The second presentation was in Oxford Ohio from Hall of Fame Astronaut Christopher Ferguson and Miami University president Dr. Crawford.  After an intimate dinner at President Crawford's house and receipt of the Miami University President's Challenge Medal, Michael accepted his award a second time from astronaut Christopher Ferguson in the University auditorium. Michael's professors and fellow students were also in attendance to hear his acceptance speech.
