Three National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalists

Roeper Seniors, Zelia Newhard, Heather Schechter and Aiden Song were selected as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship awards competition for 2023. 

Students selected as Semifinalists scored in the top 5% in the nation on the PSAT. Aiden, Heather and Zelia are in the top third of that 5%. They are the highest scoring entrants in each state.  To continue, semifinalists must advance to Finalist standing in the competition by meeting high academic standards in addition to other requirements. They will find out in February. Finalists then need to fill out their final scholarship application. They will know whether or not they qualified for prize money between April and July.
