It's always nice to take a peek into what is happening inside Roeper classrooms, especially now that they are also closed to our view!
Cynthia Harris shared what they have been doing in Cynthia and Amy's Stage III Classroom:
Our poetry unit this month has placed a special emphasis on the work of African American poets and the children worked hard on this project. As we’ve been learning about the trials and triumphs of African Americans both past and present, we shared the aspirational poem, “I Dream A World,” by Langston Hughes. We discussed with students what their hopes and dreams are for the world that we live in and made watercolor paintings to illustrate their sentiments. We also viewed a performance of the song, “I Dream A World,” inspired by the work of Hughes and written by African American composer Andre J. Thomas.
