Introducing Mike Waddington! Maintenance Staff

Carolyn Borman
When new people join our Roeper community we like to let everyone know about them because everyone is interested and it facilitates our welcoming them into the community. We ask someone to say a few words about them and ask them to fill out a questionnaire. Here is Mike Waddington!

From Ryan Boyl, Maintenance Supervisor: Mike is a fellow nerd like me and is into Marvel/DC/and everything 80’s animation. He’s very approachable and a big kid at heart. He’s primarily on the Bloomfield campus and you may see him floating over to Birmingham every so often. He’ll be shadowing us for a bit and we’ll try to introduce him as much as we can but please welcome him to the school and the team.

Mike's answers to our questions:

What is your new position at Roeper – What is the work you will be doing?
I work in the maintenance department and I will also be training to work transportation in the near future. A big part of my job is making sure the campus is clean and organized as well as making sure each area is stocked up with the supplies they need. If there is an issue that pops up on campus you will probably see me helping to address it!

What were one or two highlights of your life?
The biggest highlight of my life would be starting a relationship with my now wife Amber in 2006. We have been together since then and were married in 2018.

If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be and why?
If I could live anywhere, it would be in the Alps. Swiss or French, doesn’t matter. Something about living up on a mountain calls out to me.

What are some things you'd like to share about yourself, your family and birthplace?
I am a local boy, born and raised in Oakland County. Michigander through and through! (Go Blue!) My family consists of a lot of cats, a few turtles, and my wife and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
Outside of work, you will usually find me listening to a podcast or YouTube channel of some kind or relaxing watching some classic TV. I am also an avid fan and collector of Spider-Man, Masters of the Universe, TMNT, and classic WWF.

What is it that appealed to you about Roeper when you took the job?
One of my closest friends has worked for Roeper for about 20 years, and he has always seemed to love his job, and enjoy the role he has with the school. After being hired in, I see why he enjoys what he does and thrives in the position he is in and I think this is a place I could enjoy and thrive in as well!
