Outstanding Results in Writing Competition

Roeper submitted work to the Scholastic Art and Writing contest for the first time this year. The Midwest Writing Region results are in: sixteen of the thirty submissions entered by our Middle and Upper School students earned recognition.

This is a big deal. To put it into perspective, the Midwest Region includes twelve states and approximately 110,000 submissions.

We’re thrilled to share that Gold Key–winning 8th graders Alphard Shi (Flash Fiction) and Luna Chavez (Personal Essay and Memoir) will have their work submitted to the national contest this spring.

Fun Fact: Seven of the recognized pieces were in the poetry category! Don't miss the Alex Frank Poetry Night on April 29 to hear these talented poets recite.
