7th Graders Collecting Books to Donate

Carolyn Borman
7th graders Avery and Michael Fuger are starting a book drive to benefit RX for Reading Detroit for their Mitzvah project. They will be collecting new and gently used books for children and teens, including board books, books that include characters from diverse backgrounds, Spanish and bilingual books, early readers and early chapter books

Their goal is to donate 115 books. There will be bins in most hallways and the learning commons of the Birmingham Campus. Collection will begin on April 24 and will go until May 12. Michael and Avery have always loved reading, and want to share that love with others and help those who do not have the same access to books that they do. They truly appreciate your support.

"Rx for Reading is a non-profit children’s literacy initiative sponsored by the University of Detroit Mercy and housed in the Department of English and College of Liberal Arts and Education. Our mission is to expand access to high-quality children’s books and support families in reading with their children." RX for Reading
