Roeper Recognized as a "Green School"

Jenn Carlson
We were again awarded "green" status for 2022-2023 by Oakland County’s Michigan Green Schools Program based on a point system. We have been continuing programs that have run in the past, including cohesive recycling across campus, maintaining native gardens and wildlife homes on campus and teaching electives with environmental themes, such as Stage III Gardening, Stage IV Composting and Climate Change Innovation Challenge, and Creek Studies in both Stage III and Stage IV.

Here are a short video that Elise, Mara and Eliza did as a part of the Climate Change Innovation Challenge elective, and some photos (mini compost bins, our vemiculture (worms!) compost bin, a cool stream bug, and some outdoor observations!

Sosha is working on a number of flexible Earth Day activities for our campus, including a litter challenge, garden clean-up, and seed bombs.
