Roeper Spirit Ignites at the CCB

The CCB came alive Friday Night (2/7) as the whole school came together for one EXPLOSIVE night of Roeper Spirit

 

The evening kicked off with Roeper LS Fever activities. Forty-five of our youngest Stage III & IV fans enjoyed spirited games and activities - including poster making and a visit from the Women’s and Men’s basketball players - thanks to the efforts of LS Teachers, Deb Veillette and Paula Romano. Upper school athletes shared some of their memories of their own days attending Roeper Fever and a few even remembered being inspired to play basketball by this event. The players enjoyed signing souvenir mini basketballs for every lower school student. The LS time culminated with a Family Pizza dinner.

Hoop action followed with the three Upper School teams pounding the boards in exciting play.

The JV Boys’ Team led off with their 11th big win of the season besting opponent Parkway Christian 46-30.

Girls Varsity followed with an outstanding and competitive game, but fell short with a final score of 35-21. The girls have shown tremendous improvement throughout the year.

 

Boys Varsity came to win, as they drove home the victory 68 – 24, having previously lost to Parkway Christian 53 – 51. The win puts Roeper in the driver’s seat for the MIAC Red Championship with three games remaining in the regular season.

With packed stands in between the Varsity games, 18 senior athletes were honored as they stood side by side with their parents for the annual Senior/Parent recognition. In appreciation of their commitment to athletics, senior athletes received a choice of gifts from the Roeper Booster Club including an embroidered blanket, backpack or jacket.

Not to miss out, the MS Boys Basketball teams joined the crowd in time for the Senior Recognition having come off their own exciting games at Novi Christian Academy. The C Team closed out their last game of the season with a 20 – 17 win. The B Team fought hard but lost the game 31 to 25. The A Team played one of their best games of the season but fell in overtime 41 to 35.   Overall the three teams put forth one of their best efforts of the season, showing improved effort and focus across the board.

With excitement high, the Upper School capped off the night with a first ever US dance in the gym following the Varsity game. Sponsored by US Student Government, this rollicking 2 ½ hour event, put 92 high schoolers on the dance floor to tunes provided by DJ by House Entertainment. The “Valentine’s Sock Bop” was chaperoned by David Feldman, Michal McConville, Kelly McDowell, Bridghette Parker, Patrick Ratliff, Linda Vernon, Reanna Young, and Ryan Zinser.
