Roeper Girls Hoops Beat CSPA 31-26

The Lady Roughriders get their first win in MIAC conference play over Charyl Stockwell Prepatory.
The Lady Sentinels of Charyl Stockwell jumped out to a fast 11-2 run in the first quarter before the Lady Roughriders would respond with a 2nd quarter run of their own, sparked by a tremendous effort from junior forward Jada Coburn.
The second half would be one of defensive dominance by the Lady Roughriders holding the Sentinels to 11 points for the half.
Junior Jada Coburn would score a basket to take the lead for the Lady Roughriders, and freshman guard Ava Thomas would respond with a corner three point basket to extend the lead to 5 points.
The Lady Roughriders would go on to win, 31-26. Jada Coburn would finish with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. Sophomore guard Flawless Gregory would add 10 points.
Boys Varsity Basketball

Birmingham Roeper’s boys basketball team defeated Michigan Independent Athletic Conference foe Brighton Charyl Stockwell Preparatory Academy 62-49 at CSPA’s elementary school in Howell on Tuesday, Jan. 21. Stockwell led 13-10 after one quarter but Roeper used a 15-9 second-quarter run to take a 25-22 lead at halftime. Junior forward Andrew Albrecht led the Roughriders with 15 points. Sophomore guard Thai Fowler had 13 points in the win. The Roughriders improved to 5-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Roeper hosts Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest on Friday, Jan. 24 for another MIAC game.
Boys JV Basketball

The JV basketball team won their 6th straight game Friday night, 1/17, against Whitmore Lake 39-22. The team was led by Amare McElwee with 20 points and Sam Kramer with 17 points.
The team continued to keep up their winning ways as they stayed undefeated Tuesday night, 1/21, notching their 7th win of the season over Charyl Stockwell Academy 55-25. The team was led by Peter Sznewajs with 30 points, Sam Kramer with 14 points, and Amare McElwee with 8 points. Strong efforts were also made on the defensive end of the floor by Mannie Stephens, Hayden Levy, and Harrison Klee. The team will be back in action Friday night, 1/24, at home against Lutheran Northwest.
MS Boys Basketball

The B Team fell to Novi Christian 30 to 18. The Roughriders were led by Carter Cohen with seven points and Ian Conway chipping in with six. The team improves daily, and are starting to work the ball around. The boys are learning to pass and rely on each other.
The A Team also were defeated, 48 to 22. The Roughriders were led by Noah French who contributed 13 points. This was Noah’s first game of the season, having been out earlier with injuries.
The A, B, and C Teams play at home vs. Southfield Christian on 1/28.
Elementary Boys Basketball

The Boys’ Elementary team had a hard fought match on 1/17, falling to Oakland Christian in a narrow 28 – 27 loss. Ziv Ferber led the team with 14 points. The team plays again at home on Thursday, 1/23 and the following week on Tuesday, 1/28 at 4 pm vs. Southfield Christian.
