17-year-old Isabel Ivanescu is on a crusade to end homelessness in Detroit. Why? The moment came when she went to the DIA and spotted a homeless man nearby begging for money outside of an old, expensive home in Detroit. At that moment, the world just didn’t seem right to her. Through encouragement from her teachers at Roeper, Isabel used her senior project as the opportunity to found a non-profit called, HouseDetroit. It’s the powerful student-teacher relationships at Roeper that Isabel doesn’t believe she could have found anywhere else. This National Merit Scholar is currently on her way to raising $80,000 dollars to build the non-profit's first house for the homeless. Isabel is a #RoeperKid.
