Programs and Partnerships

Roeper’s commitment to diversity drives its support for programs that foster community awareness and encourage students, faculty/staff, and families to experience culturally diverse immersion.
  • SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity): In its simplest form, SEED is a diversity education program. The National SEED Project takes you on a journey of self-discovery. Roeper faculty, staff, students, and parents who participated in this seminar testify that, due to their SEED affiliation, they listen to all voices, including their own, with widened attention. Participants handle with more confidence and competence the challenges and joys of many kinds of diversity found in their own lives, in the lives of others, and in the natural world. There is an inside-out approach taken by individuals in the SEED program. It is reflective in nature, causing each of us to look at our own identities, often illuminating how our own lives have been shaped. Participants explore various facets of diversity such as race, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, exceptionalities, ethnicities, class, etc., through activities, film, conversation and other resources. Activities are structured to provide a framework within which complex issues can be discussed.
  • SENG (Supporting the Needs of the Gifted) is a book-based discussion group addressing topics related to parenting gifted children including gifted characteristics, family relationships, friends and peers, motivation, and more. Members meet for series of seven sessions following the SENG model and guided by trained facilitators. This is an opportunity for parents of gifted children to interact, learn from each other, and develop parenting skills to nurture the self-concept and emotional development of gifted children and their families.
  • Continuous Professional Development for all staff/faculty
  • NAIS People of Color Conference
  • Partnership with Hartmann-Eton Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL): To develop programming that will enhance the learning experience for 2E learners at The Roeper School. The CTL specializes in the science of learning, learning systems and processes, and supporting students with specific learning differences/disabilities.
