About Christopher Federico

Christopher (he/him) has been an educator and educational leader in both public and independent schools, with a particular focus on teaching gifted students, for over 25 years.
He comes to Roeper from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, having previously served as Head of Academics and Head of Upper School at Bayview Glen, an independent pre-K to 12 day school of approximately 1100 students; and as Director of Curriculum, Research, and University Partnerships at the University of Toronto Schools, an independent day school for high achieving students in grades 7 to 12.

He is a fellow of the I-Think Initiative at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto, and has worked with The Learning Partnership, a national non-profit organization, to lead innovation in Canada’s publicly funded schools.  Christopher has also taught at the post-secondary level, including as an instructor in the Master of Teaching Program at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.

Christopher is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College, University of Toronto; a Bachelor of Education from the Faculty of Education, University of Toronto; a Master of Arts from the Royal Military College of Canada; a graduate certificate in Public Administration and Leadership from Toronto Metropolitan University; and a certificate in Adult Education from George Brown College.

Christopher has been a member of the Canadian Army Reserve since 1991.  Between June and December 2006, he was deployed with the United Nations as an observer to monitor the ceasefire in the disputed Abyei region of Southern Sudan.  After seven years leading a signals regiment in Hamilton, Ontario, he now serves at the Senior Instructor at the Canadian Army Command and Staff College in Kingston, Ontario.
