Lacrosse

Offered Session 2

Learn to play lacrosse with All-American Lacrosse's introductory program for boys and girls. This camp focuses on the basic skills necessary to play the game - passing, catching, ground balls, dodging and rules. Good fundamentals are critical to the development of positive habits that stay with lacrosse players, so the focus is on proper techniques. Boys' and girls' lacrosse are two different games, and every attempt is made to group campers by gender as enrollment allows. The camp also tries to sub-divide by age for a comfortable learning experience amongst peers. The only equipment required is a mouth guard. Each camper receives a new Warrior or Brine lacrosse stick to use in camp and to keep afterward.

Daily hot lunch is included in camp tuition. Two entree selections, one of which is vegetarian, are served with beverages, salad bar, sandwiches, fresh fruit and dessert. For the safety of all campers, items that contain nuts, peanuts or peanut oil are not served.

Cost: $890 per session, includes lunch
A deposit of $150 per session is required within 14 days of registration. Remaining camp fees, after the enrollment deposit has been applied, are due in two equal installments on April 1 and May 1.

Campers enrolled full-day in all 8 weeks of Day Camp, or a combination of Day Camp, Sports Camp, STEM Camp or Summer Stock Theatre receive a $300.00 discount on the 8 week total. Discount is applied after registration.

The cancellation deadline is March 1, 2019

Registration opens January 26, 2019 at noon for the full-day program. Registration for the 1/2 day program begins March 4, 2019 space permitting.

Soccer

Session 3 and Session 4

Campers work on technical and tactical aspects of soccer in a fun environment. Dribbling, passing, trapping and shooting are practiced in drills, small sided games and in full scrimmages. Camp takes place in the fully climatised indoor arena.

This program is run by Mike Ruddy, both a teacher and coach at The Roeper School for over 30 years where he has coached both boys and girls Roeper varsity and middle school soccer teams. Ruddy has served as Roeper’s Athletic Director and has coached MS basketball and volleyball. He has a BA in Political Science and MA in History from Oakland University, where he played varsity soccer. Mike holds the National 'A' License, the USSF's highest certification, as well as the National Youth License. He coached the University of Michigan Men’s’ club team from 1987-1990, dozens of youth club soccer teams from ages 6-18, boys and girls Olympic Development soccer teams, and summer soccer camps for almost four decades. He presently coaches soccer at The Roeper School and assists with Royal Oak FC.

Campers enrolled in session 4 will attend the Upper Camp Field Trip to Groveland Oaks on Friday, August 16. Group games and activities are organized, a picnic lunch is served, and children have the opportunity to swim at the park. All Sports Campers in attendance on the day of the field trip are expected to participate in this trip since there is no supervision at Roeper Camp that day
