Extended Day Opportunities 

For Day Camp and Hybrid Camp campers who want to continue exploring and learning at the end of camp or who simply need supervision while you are at work, Roeper Summer Programs offers a few fun and convenient options: Before and After Care, Swim Lessons, and Enrichment Classes.

For campers in the Roeper Summer Stock Theatre and Specialty Camps located on the Birmingham campus, before and after care options are available. Details are available on those sections of the website.

Before and After Camp Care

Roeper Summer Programs offers flexible and convenient Before Care and After Care hours. No prior notice is needed and no committments. Have an early morning appointment? Just bring your camper to before care. Running late? No worries. Campers not picked up at the close of camp will automatically go to after care. No registration necessary. Invoices are emailed at the end of each session.

Cost: $5 per hour per camper, rounded up to the half hour. Times and locations vary based on the program location. Pick-ups after 6pm will be billed $1 per minute.

Swim Lessons

Swim lessons are available after camp for Day Camp and Hybrid  Camp campers only. Lessons fill quickly. Registration for swim lessons should be completed at the time of camp registration. Student/lifeguard ratio for these lessons is capped at 5:1. 

Campers may register for only one swim lesson or enrichment class per session per camper. Swim lesson fees are non-refundable after May 31.

After Camp Enrichment Courses

A variety of after camp enrichment courses are available to only Day Camp Upper campers and Hybrid campers. Registration for enrichment courses should be completed at the time of camp registration.   • BRICKS Challenge

    This program integrates LEGO© with scientific and mathematical principles in a FUN and EXCITING way. Each lesson includes building, enhancing and playing with a custom, moving LEGO© model. e2 Young Engineers programs implement an Edutainment (Education + Entertainment) approach, transforming the learning process into a game while introducing children to theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). For new and returning participants.

  • Fashion Design

    Designers will learn the average approximate proportions for the human body from childhood to adulthood and become familiar with skin tones and body shapes. Designers will draw and color their model using newfound knowledge and a wooden model as a reference. Note: Artists' fashion design will be 2-dimensional: designed on foam board with markers, sharpies, and design paper. Designers will have the option to add accessories and advertising to complete their work.

    In this exciting STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics) class, students will plan, reflect, design and build their own robots. Students will construct their very own robot using modeling clay and become familiar with Claymation. Students will practice building and telling a story through stop motion animation.

  • Chess Wizards

    Chess Wizards is so popular with kids because of our unique structure. First, we let kids get the wiggles and giggles out with 10 minutes of free play and review of past taught topics. We then go right into the week's lessons. We separate students based on skill levels and teach different lessons best suited to their individual needs. All lessons have an activity and homework to accompany them and we have well over 80 different lessons to keep challenging our little wizards! Chess has been taught for thousands of years because of its emphasis on logic, tactics and sportsmanship. Let us coach your kids to a higher level of education.

  • Capoeira

    Through the art of Capoeira we are able to create the next generation of leaders; open minded and educated in culture, fitness, self-expression and much more. The flow of kicks, escapes, cartwheels and handstands set to the powerful rhythm of Brazilian songs and percussion instruments are the perfect remedy to keep kids active and fit. Capoeira combines martial arts, dance, acrobatics and music, making it ideal for kids because it relies on agility and spontaneous escapes as it develops leadership, teamwork, coordination, strength and flexibility.
