Matteo defines what it means to be a #RoeperKid. His modest approach and kind demeanor complement his passion for learning within and beyond the walls of Roeper. “I love science. I really like the brain and how it works. I really like space too,” he says when talking about becoming either a Neurosurgeon or Astrophysicist. “And the support of my teachers makes me feel like I can achieve either of these.” When this 8th grader is not studying, he’s still exploring. His interest in geography led him to earning the title of 2018 National Geographic Bee Champ at Roeper. He’s hoping to make it to States this spring.Matteo divides his time between Math Counts, Cross Country, and learning new languages- Portuguese being the latest. But if you really want to experience what makes Matteo gleam, listen to him sing. He’s taken the stage with the children’s chorus at the Detroit Opera House since 4th grade. He’s a #RoeperKid.
