Roeper Baseball Team Wins Division Title!

In an exciting game that went two extra innings, the Roeper Roughriders Baseball team won the MIAC league title against Parkway Christian last night. Congratulations to the Roeper Baseball Team Division Champs! Junior Trevor Rogers ripped a line drive walk-off hit into left field in the bottom of the 9th to clinch the win.

In his letter of congratulations to coach Todd Dunfield and the team, teacher and spectator, Kevin Kildea, wrote:

It was one of the most exciting games that I have ever seen.  The boys were trailing 8 to 4 in the bottom of the 7th inning (which is the last inning in high school baseball) after giving up a run in the top of the 7th.  But they never gave up and tied the game with a four run bottom of the 7th.  After two intense extra innings, in the bottom of the 9th, Roper loaded the bases with one out and scored the winning run with a single to left field to win 9 to 8.

The team was resilient, focused, and supportive of each other.  Their mindset was evident in this wonderful team victory.  My voice may be a little scratchy today from all the cheering that I did but it was all worth it.  I wish the team the best of luck going forward.  What a night!

Thank you Kevin for this exciting description and congratulations to coach Todd Dunfield.
