8th Grade Combined English and Social Studies Unit
Eighth Grade interdisciplinary unit features “Today’s Guest with Dr. Parker”!
Middle School 8th grade teachers Roz Giroux (English) Patrick Harris (Social Studies) just completed an interdisciplinary unit. Here is their description:
We are investigating global systems and agency to accompany our graphic novel unit in 8th Grade English. The past couple of days, students participated in a simulation activity where they played roles on the fictitious, “Today’s Guest with Dr. Parker” show. The characters revolved around the story of a CEO getting permission to frack, a teen pop star writing a song on TikTok to fight back, and the ripple effect that ensued.

A “journalist” from each class volunteered to be a photographer as well.
Educating and inspiring gifted students to think as individuals and to engage as a community with compassion for each other and this world.
