Tiffany Cunningham '94 Nominated to US Court of Appeals, Federal District

Carolyn Borman
Tiffany P. Cunningham '94 will become the first Black judge on the Federal Circuit, the only U.S. appeals court which has never had a Black jurist, if she is confirmed by the Senate. She has been nominated by President Biden to this court which is "unique among the 13 Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals. It has nationwide jurisdiction in a variety of subject areas..." Tiffany is eminently qualified for serving in this lifetime position. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from MIT in Chemical Engineering and went on to achieve her Juris Doctor degree from Harvard. She began her career as a law clerk to Judge Timothy B. Dyk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Tiffany has been a partner at Perkins Coie LLP in Chicago since 2014 where her areas of specialization uniquely align with the types of cases taken up by the Federal Circuit.

Tiffany started at Roeper in the Lower School and continued on until she graduated in 1994. We will keep you posted regarding her confirmation. Congratulations to Tiffany!
