Successful Roeper Model UN Conference at Oakland University

Matt Vallus
This past Saturday and Sunday our Roeper Model UN team attended the virtual annual OUMUN (Oakland University Model United Nations). Many of our delegates had to hastily shift gears from participating in last week's Mexico City conference. Once again our delegates performed very well and understood/articulated their countries positions clearly. The following students received special recognition:
  • Senior Francis Allen (China, Security Council) received a Superior Delegate Award and consistently provided substantive and productive debate.
  • Senior David Cornier-Bridgeforth (China, UN Environmental Programme) received a Superior Delegate Award and was described as very active, a driver of debate, contributor to all topics, and the author of the famous "Yip yip D.R.I.P" resolution.
  • Junior Rose Li (China, World Health Organization) received the Best Delegate award and was consistently the standout leader of debate, extremely articulate, and immaculately researched.
  • Sophomore Signe Smith (Mexico, Social and Humanitarian Committee) received a Superior Delegate Award and was described as articulate, passionate, and innovative.
Overall, Roeper scored 2nd place as a team for OUMUN! This award would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment from these additional hardworking delegates:

Andrew Klein (China, Legal Committee), Ben Wedepohl (Mexico,Security Council) and Jack Lambert (China, Social/Humanitarian).

Congratulations Team Roeper!

Advisors: Matt Vallus, Mike Ruddy, and Rose Li (lead student-advisor). Special shout-out to Rose who provided background information and continual support/advice in helping students research and articulate their positions.
