ROEPER STUDENTS WIN AWARDS AT MODEL UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE IN WASHINGTON

Fifteen students and two advisors from The Roeper School participated in the National Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) in Washington, DC from February 13-16, 2020, representing eleven nations or organizations. Senior Richard Li and sophomore Rosalyn Li  won “Honorable Mention” in the Economic and Financial Committee, representing Bangladesh, as did senior Kayla Park and junior Hannah Wise, representing Libya in the Arab League.  
 
Roeper was one of four Michigan schools of 134 schools from North America, Latin America, and Europe.  Roeper delegates addressed resolutions on Women, Children and Equal Education in Africa; Security in Britain, Indonesia, and Russia; and Water, Green Finance, Energy Accessibility, and Sustainable Tourism. In addition to conference activities, Roeper students received a pre-conference briefing at the Pakistan Embassy from Political Counsellor, Ms. Sidrah Aslam on South Asian regional political, social, and security issues.  
 
Roeper students attending were Francis Allen, Christopher Ban, Caleb Bartes, Jameson Gerrits, Liliiwailehua Kappa, Andrew Klein, Sydney Levy, Claire Martin, Andrew Mojares, Christopher Mojares Benjamin Wedepohl.  Advisors attending were Matt Vallus and Michael Ruddy.
