Roeper held a 50-year class reunion on Saturday, October 22nd, for the classes of 1971, 1972, and 1973. The event was the culmination of a two-year effort by the Planning Committee that resulted in a lovely gathering. Many smiles, laughs, and fun conversations recalled school events and old friendships. It was a highly emotional event since many had not seen each other, or the school, for nearly 50 years.
Thirty-seven alumni, thirteen guests, and two former teachers traveled from as far as Oregon, California, Massachusetts, and England for a full day of activities preceded by a Friday evening meet and greet at the Rose Room in downtown Birmingham. The reunion included a welcome and lunch in the Main Building (Hill House), a tour of the Lower and Middle/Upper School Campuses, a tribute to deceased classmates, faculty, and staff, and an informative presentation about the history of the school. The evening concluded with a reunion dinner at Granite City Food and Brewery, where former teachers Dick Halsey and Sid Fox were honored. A 50-year booklet was created to commemorate the reunion and distributed to all within the graduating classes of 1971-73. You're invited to view a slideshow of photos taken throughout the weekend!
