GRADES 1 - 4)

Bonjour mes amis! This summer come to explore all things French for students currently in Grades 1- 4. This camp is open to students at all levels of French as well as those with no experience. During the week, campers will have the opportunity to practice their French skills (or learn French if they are beginners) through the creation of stories.

Campers will create and act out situations and stories to highlight new vocabulary and learn grammar contextually (this method is often called TPRS, Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling or CI, Comprehensible Input). Often the stories will be unexpected, to create enthusiasm around learning new vocabulary. As campers create the story, they will also make props or drawings to visually reinforce the information and add to the fun. This allows campers at all levels to understand the material at all times, making the experience enjoyable and memorable.

When they aren’t speaking French, campers will be talking about the 27 French speaking countries around the world and singing their French songs. Campers will enjoy discovering a traditional French sport named “Petanque” and cooking some “Pain perdu” (French Toast).

ALL THINGS FRENCH is taught by The Roeper School Lower School French teacher Sabrina Prevost who loves teaching and sharing the French culture. Sabrina has been teaching at Roeper for 3 years and is a native of France. She came to the US with her husband 13 years ago. Before joining the Roeper faculty, Sabrina coached figure skating for 23 years and organized numerous events.
