Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna) will be shown on Saturday, May 8, 2010 as the concluding film of the 2009/2010 Roeper Diversity Film Series. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the R. Dean Acheson Theater on Roeper’s Birmingham Campus located two blocks north of Maple on the west side of Adams. The public is invited. Admission is free. Donations will be accepted and all proceeds will benefit the Roeper Scholarship Fund.

Under the Same Moon tells the parallel stories of nine-year-old Carlitos and his mother, Rosario. In the hopes of providing a better life for her son, Rosario works illegally in the U.S. while her mother cares for Carlitos back in Mexico. Unexpected circumstances drive both Rosario and Carlitos to embark on their own journeys in a desperate attempt to reunite. Along the way, mother and son face challenges and obstacles but never lose hope that they will one day be together again.

A student panel discussion on immigration will take place following the show. This film is Rated PG-13 for some mature thematic elements.
