Library

The Roeper M/US Library is staffed by a full time librarian and is a collection of books, magazines, newspapers, and videos designed to fit the needs of gifted students in the Roeper curriculum. There are ten computers on which students can write papers, pursue research, and access both the library's catalog and the internet. The Library also provides access to infotrac and First Search which are databases that include full text articles from approximately 1800 magazines. There are also three special collections covering gifted education, human rights, and the Roeper philosophy.

Technology

In addition to having a computer in every classroom, the Middle and Upper school campus boasts eight computer labs.

Resource Room

The Resource Room at the middle/upper campus offers a variety of services for our students. First, we are a resource for all community members, not just students. A student does not have to have learning issues to use the room. Some students schedule a resource room block so they have a scheduled time to do homework, study or meet with staff. Sometimes homeroom advisors and/or parents will recommend that students sign up for resource room blocks so that they have a time during the day to receive assistance.

The Resource Room is used by different individuals for different things. We offer a place to study, a place to make up a test, and a place where special testing needs can be met. The Resource Room arranges for peer tutors and professional tutors. We have computers in the room for student use as well as software to help students with reading difficulties and written language disorders. Students are also encouraged to come see the resource room staff for assistance with time management, organizational skills, various study skills and testing anxiety issues. For students with learning difference we help the teachers develop the appropriate accommodations to allow the student to be successful in their class. We also help determine why a student may be having academic difficulties. The method of evaluation depends upon the individual case. After a student is determined to have a learning difference, the resource room staff will help the student develop strategies for success.
