FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Do you have a birthday cutoff for entry?

There is no specific cut-off-date for children entering school. We evaluate each child individually to determine the best placement for the child, dependent on their unique social, emotional and academic needs.

Do you have an after-school program?

Lower School children may attend the before-school program from 7:30 – 8:15am at $4.75 per day (maximum $60 per $75 per month) and/or the after-school program between 3:00 and 6:00pm at $4.75 per hour with 24-hour notice. Students are given quality supervision, nutritious snacks, a quiet area for reading and homework, and another area for board games, storytelling, arts and crafts and indoor/outdoor play. Charges are billed monthly by the Business Office. There is a Registration Fee of $30 for the school year; those families who have not paid the fee will be charged a higher hourly rate.

Middle school children may attend an after-school study hall program held from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

We also offer enrichment classes after school at both the Lower and Middle schools.

What are your application deadlines?

We do not have specific deadline for application but we do encourage families to apply the fall/winter before they wish to enroll. We will continue to accept applications even after the grade has been filled and will create a wait pool for all others.

Does Roeper provide transportation?

Most families drive their children to school, but many use a transportation service or carpool. The Business Office can provide information about both. If you live in Bloomfield Hills or Birmingham, you are entitled to use the public school buses for transportation to The Roeper School. Please contact your public school system for further information. A shuttle bus service is available between the two campuses each morning and afternoon.

Where do Roeper families live?

Our families come from over 60 different communities throughout southeastern Michigan.

What foreign languages does Roeper offer?

In the Lower School all students (Full day Stage I through Stage IV) take French at a level that matches their ability. Middle and Upper School students may take French, Spanish, Classical Greek or Latin. We offer Advanced Placement classes in French, Spanish and Latin.

Do you offer merit scholarships?

No, we offer only need-based scholarships and financial aid. Some schools offer merit scholarships to enrich their populations with particularly strong students, but given our gifted student body, it would be difficult to single out particular students for merit. Also, the school is philosophically committed to recognizing and honoring the unique gifts of each student.
